Description: North Wales - on the doorstep of major conurbations including Liverpool, Manchester and the West Midlands - is a hugely attractive but easily overlooked destination for the wildlife enthusiast, no matter what branch of natural history most appeals.
Birdwatching interests will be well satisfied with high profile species such as Osprey, Red Kite, Hen Harrier, Goshawk, Black Grouse, Ring Ouzel and Chough, with a back-up cast that includes Red Grouse, Puffin, Black Guillemot, Cetti’s Warbler and Hawfinch, plus Kingfisher, Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Wood Warbler, Dipper, Nuthatch and Twite among an assortment of more common fare.
Mammals always require more effort, but daytime items are likely to include Red Squirrel, Brown Hare and Harbour Porpoise, while nighttime outings using a spotlight seek out Fox, Badger and Polecat - incidentally producing Barn and Tawny Owls. An Otter was seen from our riverside hotel during the last tour (2009).
Our explorations range from the River Dee estuary featuring saltmarsh and mud flats, through upland and mountain habitats in Snowdonia, to pastoral locations, beaches and sea cliffs on Anglesey. Locational content is immensely scenic throughout, our excursions passing through some of the most sparsely populated regions of the country.
Don’t be hesitant! Join us on this eventful adventure that guarantees to combine the mood of a holiday with a wealth of unbeatable wildlife highlights.
