In Speyside's ancient pinewoods we look for Osprey, Capercaillie, Black Grouse, Scottish Crossbill, Crested Tit and Red Squirrel. Above Loch Ness Black-throated Diver, Slavonian Grebe, Red Grouse, Tawny and Barn Owls, Dipper, Ring Ouzel, Blue Hare, Badger and four deer species are the main targets. Roding Woodcock, drumming Snipe, reeling Grasshopper Warblers, and Daubenton's Bats hawking insects over water, are typical treats during evening excursions.
Golden and Sea Eagles are looked for against the unforgettable panoramas of the west coast, where Great Northern Diver, Black Guillemot, Ptarmigan, Twite are expected birds while Harbour Porpoise and Otter are may be seen a short distance from the hotel. Pine Martens are watched at a baited site.
Birds and mammals mentioned are just a partial representation of the overall tally, in addition to which may be added butterflies (A notable mix of wild flowers, butterflies (Chequered Skipper and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary) and Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary), dragonflies and notable wildflowers.
